8:31 am - Please Help Con-G Bring w00tstock to Guelph/KW!

kittycanuck
Con-G has a chance to bring w00tstock to the Guelph/Kitchener-Waterloo area, but we need your help to do it!

To help out, simply "Like" our Facebook Page here!

What is w00tstock? Billed as "3 hours of geeks and music", it’s a fun-filled evening hosted by television host/special-effects artist Adam Savage ("MythBusters"), actor/author/blogger Wil Wheaton ("Star Trek: TNG", "Stand By Me") and music-comedy duo Paul & Storm (The Internet, Da Vinci’s Notebook) with additional guests based on location! These guys are awesome.

Songs, readings, comedy, short films, it’s the best parts of the huge US conventions all distilled into 3 hours.

Planning is in the early stages, and nothing is guaranteed, but you can help make a difference! We have been told that we need to show there are enough people who would attend a w00tstock performance held in Guelph/KW before planning can continue. Until now, they have only done performances in the USA, and all on the West Coast. We need to show them that it would be worth their while to come all the way to Canada! If we can show that at least 750-1000 people (the size of a US show) in the area want to attend, they will consider coming to Con-G!

If you would like to attend a w00tstock performance in Guelph/KW, please "Like" our Facebook Page to show your support, and pass the link on to anyone else you know that would attend!
If you do not have a Facebook account, please leave a comment on our blog indicating your support.

Hey, is anyone out there a EN/FS Grad student?  I am commencing Grad studies this fall (only another week  before classes start!) and wondered if anyone else on here is in the same department?

5:36 pm - Brazilian waxing?
slenderstar Hey everyone,
I know this isn't a question specific to Laurier, so for that I apologize, but does anyone know of a place that is open on Mondays where I can get a good (as in thorough) Brazilian waxing done for under 50 dollars?
Thanks!

11:12 pm - Roommate needed!

lux_apollo
Hey everyone,

I'm a biology grad student at WLU, looking for a roommate to rent the other room in the two-bedroom apartment that I occupy. The lease begins September 1, 2009, and would be for 12 months. Rent is $425 a month, utilities included and there is free parking and free laundry on site. The apartment is a 15 minute walk through Waterloo Park to WLU or UW, and is only 5 minutes away from the Valumart grocery store at Waterloo Town Square (and all the other awesome things in the Uptown). I'm looking for an easy-going, clean grad student, senior undergrad or even a young professional to share this apartment with.

If you would like more details/to see pictures/to arrange a viewing, comment below or email me: michael.a.wright [at] gmail [dot] com.

Thanks!

10:23 pm - Education Program

bagagesdesable
Has anyone here taken the education program at Laurier? I'm looking at the "proposed" Junior/Intermediate program. I realize that no one would have gone through that program yet...

But for people who have taken the Primary/Junior program before, how did the practica work? Could a person manage without a car?

Thanks for any info!

4:32 am - Roommate wanted...
lux_apollo Hi,

I'm a 26 year old biology grad student looking for a roommate starting September 1, 2009. I have an apartment already, it's a good 2-bedroom place on Erb St. West, 15 min from UW and WLU through Waterloo Park and only 3 min from Uptown Waterloo (groceries, pharmacy, LCBO, restaurants, bars...). Rent is $450 inclusive with free laundry facilities on site. I am looking for a laid back roommate, either a grad student or a studious senior undergrad.

Fire me off a comment if you think you may be interested in more details/meeting up to see if we jive.

8:49 pm - KWLT Audition Announcement for Les Liaisons Dangereuses

much_ado
Kitchener-Waterloo Little Theatre Auditions

What: Les Liaisons Dangereuses by Christopher Hampton, directed by Karen Grierson

Where: University of Waterloo, Arts Lecture Hall room 116 (April 6 & 7 - waiting on room confirmation for April 8 - please check www.kwlt.org for more info)

Who: We are looking for Actors, Technicians, and Production staff (publicity, front of house, and general production). We are looking for actors over 18 years, please.

KWLT gives Christopher Hampton's Oscar-winning tale of seduction and intrigue among the rich and powerful a Film Noir treatment. Set in Bohemian Paris of the early 1920's, this classic story illustrates the politics of power: love and hate, hedonism and control — a no-holds-barred war waged between aristocrats, with sex as the principal weapon and innocence as the first casualty. Adult themes and partial nudity; not suitable for children.

Produced in special arrangement with Samuel French

Produced on the Broadway stage by James M. Nederlander, The Shubert Organization, Inc., Jerome Minskoff, Elizabeth I, McCann and Stephen Graham in association with Jonathan Farkas.

Performances Dates: July 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 2009, all shows 8pm

For more information, please contact: much_ado, Director (arnora dot d at gmail dot com) or the_nita, Producer (akilgour at gmail dot com)

6:35 pm - Housing for one person...
slenderstar Does anyone know if there are one-bedroom apartments in the Laurier area? I know there are a few basement apartments in downtown Kitchener, but that would put me too far from the school.
Thanks in advance!

I have a question:

I need to pay my graduation fees. Can this be done the same way that I have paid tuition (through online-banking)?

Thanks!
